Are you registered with the IRS?
Absolutely. Black Star Tax only employs  trained tax professionals who have been vetted and are registered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Where are you located?
Black Star Tax is a mobile and online tax preparation service, and as such, we do not have a brick and mortar location.

However, we offer mobile services in Phoenix, Glendale, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale, Surprise, Paradise Valley and most surrounding cities. Give us a call and we will come to you!

If you happen to live outside of AZ, and our mobile services aren’t available to you, our secure e-filing option allows you to conveniently and securely transfer your documents to our professionals to complete. All you have to do is review our work and sign.

Why should I come to you instead of a major tax company?
Black Star Tax takes a very personal approach to tax preparation because we believe in order to achieve the best possible outcome, we must understand each and every client. We know how enticing the idea of going back to the same big tax company you’re used to is, but they don’t take the time to go into every detail of your finances in order to maximize your return and minimize your deductions.

How much do your services cost?
We offer moderate and fair pricing for our individual and joint tax preparation services.

WE LOVE DISCOUNTS!

Special pricing available for students and seniors. We also give out discount coupons at our pop-up locations across the east valley.

Business Taxes:

There is not a set price for our business tax preparation service, however we offer fair and moderate pricing. Call us for a quote!

Bookkeeping Services:

We do not provide a set price for our bookkeeping service at the moment, but we would be more than happy to quote you! Just give us a call!

Which forms, documents or records do I need to provide you?
We have created a really handy Tax Appointment Checklist to help you gather the necessary documents ahead of your appointment with one of our professionals.
You can download the checklist as a PDF, check it off as you collect your documents, and send it to us when you’re done so that we know just what kind of tax magic we need to sprinkle on your forms.

Is your E-filing option secure?
Absolutely! We do not take your security lightly. As certified tax professionals, it is our duty to treat your personal information with as much, if not more, care than we would our own.
Also, we regularly participate in seminars by the IRS in order to ensure we are in compliance with the expected level of security required to handle personal information.

 

We only transfer files and documents through secure and encrypted platforms.

 

We will never mishandle your information.
How long does it take to prepare my taxes?
The truth is, there is no way to give a certain time in which we can finish your return. It could take as little as 20 minutes, to as much as over and hour depending on the complexity of your tax situation and the forms required.

We are able to collect all necessary documents securely from you, complete the return without you having to be present, and sent it back to you for review and your signature.

In most cases, the average single person’s tax return takes roughly 30-40 minutes to complete.

Business tax forms can take 1Hr+

Is there a limit to how much I can be advanced through your "Refund Advance" program?
Yes, the limit is $9500.
Where do we collect our advance?
If you qualify for a refund advance through us, one of our agents will be able to print and provide you with your check within 48hrs. We offer overnight mailing, delivery (in phoenix, tempe, mesa and chandler) and pickup.

Do you offer Audit Protection?
We do indeed! For a small fee, you can add audit protection to your tax preparation package.
